If you are arrested, you have fundamental constitutional rights:

  • Right to be informed of charges against you
  • Right to remain silent
  • Right to legal representation
  • Right against torture or cruel treatment
  • Right to be brought before court within 24-48 hours

What You Should Do

1. Ask "Am I under arrest?" and "What are the charges?"

2. Request a lawyer immediately

3. Do not answer questions without your lawyer present

4. Document any injuries with photos/witnesses
